Vacancy Details

Our large retail client, with their head office based in Cape Town Central, is seeking to employ a qualified Retail Operations Manager to join their team. What the role entails:

General management of operations zone (circa 2000 staff)

Team management of 3 regional / divisional managers

Merchandise management:

  • Visual display
  • Store plans
  • Stock management
  • Renovations and new store openings

Customer service:

  • Escalated complaints
  • Manage customer service ratings for operations zone

Drive and Achieve Performance targets:

  • Turnover
  • New Accounts
  • Managing staffing Hours
  • Trading densities
  • Controllable expenses
  • Shrinkage
  • Admin ratings
  • Understand budgets and control expenses
  • Manages the growth and success of the team
  • Coordinates activities that affect operational decisions and business requirements
  • Recruit, select, train, coach, counsel and discipline employees
  • Analyze data to inform operational decisions or activities
  • Analyze financial records to improve efficiency
  • Direct organizational operations, projects, or services

Qualifications and Experience  

  • Experience of at least 10 or more years in a senior fashion retail operations role is critical.
  • Preferably a business related qualification, Diploma or Degree (Tertiary)
  • Preferably at least 5 years’ experience as an Operations Manager (managing Regional Managers)
  • Extensive experience in the retail fashion industry within a multi-brand environment
  • Experience in implementing strategies and vision
  • Good administration and merchandise skills
  • Excellent people management and IR skills
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Good interviewing and coaching skills
  • Innovative leadership and training skills
  • Results driven personality with a skill for leading and motivating a large team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem solving skills
