An exciting opportunity exists for a Retail Stores Training Specialist at SPITZ in Bryanston, Johannesburg.  The purpose of the role is to take ownership of and run the training function for the Business Unit (BU). This will include administering and presenting training, including training content creation, for the BU as per the annual training plan and the operational requirements.

Job Specification:

Key Performance Areas:

  • Management of the Training Function end-to-end for the BU
  • Identifies training needs in conjunction with Operations and line managers
  • Develops annual training plan for sign-off
  • Plans training – including content creation / amendment where necessary, and the administration aspects
  • Organises and coordinates training logistics, including notifications for training, venues, refreshments, transport and external providers and requests invoices for payment submission
  • Checks and works with L&D to verify accredited training material
  • Sends all necessary programme material to participants, checks that information received by participants is accurate, addresses logistical or any programme questions, etc.
  • Sends all the necessary logistical and participant information to the programme facilitators, makes sure that the facility’s staff has a clear understanding of the logistical needs of the learning event, deals with emergencies and problems and ensures that contingency plans are manageable and up to date
  • Coordinates the training needs analysis exercise, including IPA personal development areas
  • Organises and coordinates the Learnership programs and ensures compliance with SETA and BBBEE documentary requirements
  • Co-ordinate all statutory training as required by the business (eg. First Aid)
  • Facilitates / presents training programmes as required, on topics such as: Leadership / soft-skills / behavioural aspects / customer experience
  • Facilitate vendor selection
  • Identify suitable partners who meet SETA, preferential Procurement, industry experience etc. requirements
  • Ensure necessary documentation is completed and submitted to L&D for review
  • Cost Management & Training Administration
  • Confirmation of HR training & development spend for the next FY
  • Compiles monthly reports, including monthly spend, payments to service providers, invoices, travel costs, etc.
  • Submit trainer and supplier invoices for payment
  • Raising of PO’s and ensuring vendors are paid timeously
  • Manage Educational Assistance (employee financial assistance for studies) process and application
  • Ensures that all training records are up to date and accurate, includes necessary information on participants as per training attendance registers and sends to HRSS L&D for capturing on SAP
  • SD Skills: BBBEE Reporting
  • Works with SDF to ensure Skills Development levies refund is optimised
  • Monitors and checks all monthly (including SAP T&E) and annual training reports for accuracy
  • Maintains necessary BBBEE information which includes capturing training registers on SAP
  • Compile and submit annual WSP and ATR reports
  • Compiles relevant sections of HR monthly report
  • Transformation
  • Implements and drives all L&D initiatives in the particular BU detailed in the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP)
  • Manages Learnerships in conjunction with HRSS L&D
  • Works with transformation to meet the BBBEE Skills Development score targets

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:                                                                  

  • 5 years’ experience in a Training role
  • 2 years’ experience as within Retail Operations and Store Training would be essential
  • Experience working as a Store Manager or Store Admin Manager would be highly advantageous
  • Previous experience Training Staff across multiple locations or stores would be advantageous

 Qualifications:

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • HR Certificate / Diploma or Degree

Additional Requirements:

  • Travel – must be willing and able to travel extensively within South Africa to different retail stores and training venues
  • Knowledge of BBBEE & Skills Development as a Priority Element
  • Knowledge of SETA processes
  • Knowledge of Training Procedures, Processes and Programmes
  • Knowledge of Training Policies & SLAs and Contracts
