Vacancy Details

Identify all required Statutory and Regulatory Legislation applicable to the Company and its scope of operations and ensure the organisation is aware of, and complies with, all legislation relating to its duty of care, workplace activities and the use of its plant, equipment and substances.

Develop and Document a Health & Safety System including policies, procedures and manuals based upon OSHAS 18001/ ISO 45001; ISO 14001; ISO 9001.

Establish annual Health & Safety Training Programmes for all personnel on all Sites including Head Office.

Establish Health & Safety Representatives on all Sites and at Head Office.

Initiate training of all applicable personnel related to the identified requirements.

Implement, maintain and audit all identified controls.

Implement closure of any identified non-conformances.

Report Quarterly on status of Health & Safety Controls and any incidents.

Analyse all applicable Records to identify negative / positive trends.

Initiate and effectively implement any necessary actions / controls to obviate a recurrence of similar problems / incidents / negative trends.

Liaise with respective External Resources e.g. Fire Fighting Equipment Suppliers; First Aid Trainers etc.

Promote occupational health and safety within an organisation and develop safer and healthier ways of working.

Inspect workplaces and workplace equipment, such as scaffolding, to ensure they meet safety regulations and to identify hazards and risks

Ensure that workplaces conform with organisational procedures and safety standards

Work with other professionals to ensure the safety of worksites and work practices

Ensure personal protective equipment (such as hearing protection, dust masks, safety glasses, footwear and safety helmets), is being used in workplaces according to regulations

Ensure dangerous materials are correctly stored

Identify and test work areas for potential accident and health hazards, such as toxic fumes and explosive gas-air mixtures, and implement appropriate control measures

Record and report hazards, accidents, injuries and health issues within the workplace

Assist with the investigation of accidents and unsafe working conditions, study possible causes and recommend remedial action

Conduct training sessions for management, supervisors and workers on health and safety practices and legislation

Assist with the rehabilitation of workers after accidents or injuries and make sure they experience a satisfactory return to work

Coordinate emergency procedures, firefighting and first aid crews

Communicate frequently with management to report on the status of occupational health and safety programs

  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Computer Literate.
  • Diploma in Health & Safety Management.
  • SAMTRAC, Fire Safety & Accident / Incident Investigation.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Ability to travel with own transport.
  • Ability to control staff.
  • Ability to converse in at least two official South African languages
  • Knowledge of ISO Integrated system
  • Integrated MS Awareness; SHEQ Policies; ALL SPs
  • SACPCMP Registration
