An opportunity has become available for a Village Manager / General Manager at our retirement village Cle du Cap  in Kirstenhof.

Job purpose:  Overall responsibility for the effective management and general well being of the village, ensuring that key performance requirements are met by implementing operational plans and facilitating effective communication and networking across the business and the village.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Relationship management

  • Customer service and communication to all village residents and their families
  • Execute duties by effective, sensitive and informative communication with staff members, management and residents by fostering strong relationships with all these stakeholders.
  • Manage SLA with all service providers and ensure compliance with agreed standards.
  • Marketing of the village to ensure full occupancy at all times
  • Conducting viewings of units
  • Handing over of units when new life right are granted
  • Completing and collecting all necessary documentation for the sale of a life right
  • Dealing with all queries from both existing residents and prospective life right holders
  • Updating Sales Manager with feedback on sales
  • Keeping management updated with any correspondence sent to Trustees
  • Liaising between management and trustees and advising management of any trustee concerns prior to trustee meetings
  • Carrying out Faircape policies and procedures and ensuring that Faircapes vision and ethos is carried through to all residents
  • Escalate any areas of concern to the Claremont office
  • Liaison between residents and all managers.
  • Managing dispute resolution with residents and / or trustees
  • Attending trustees meetings and pre-trustees meetings
  • Catering
  • Ensure high standards of food served in the clubhouse in collaboration with Food Service Manager and Dietician
  • Attend catering committee meetings
  • Reach catering budget
  • Supervision of Staff
  • Manage and supervise team responsible for the village
  • Ensure all maintenance issues logged and completed
  • Provide leadership, support and guidance to staff
  • Ensure that staff clock in and out
  • Ensure that staff complete and adhere to leave plans
  • Annual staff performance appraisals
  • Manage the CSO
  • Managing internal staff in terms of their job descriptions and KPI’s
  • Social Events / Outings
  • Facilitate the social calendar of the village
  • Marketing of the village to prospective residents
  • Coordinate information and prepare newsletter
  • Arrange suitable activities and events that appeal to residents
  • Upkeep of the Village
  • Ensure that the gardens remain attractive and liaise with Group Horticulturist
  • Ensure maintenance items are logged and resolved
  • Reporting
  • Ensuring comprehensive and complete village reports are submitted weekly

Qualifications:

  • Matric
  • Relevant qualification advantageous
  • Experience and Knowledge:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a management role

Skills and Attributes

  • Computer literate (experience in Google Drive, Sheets and Docs preferable)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to perform under pressure
