Vacancy Details

Research and Development Assistance

Utilising analytical, instrumental, and physical testing methodology to assist the technical service managers (TSM) to formulate new and/or improve existing products by establishing the compositional data, physical property performance as well as accelerated test data on NCS and competitor products. Report of work done and issuing of test results.

Assist technology and operations with formulation and process optimizations and to trouble shoot and investigate processing anomalies to minimize rejects and improve consistency.

Conduct testing of NCS, customer and competitor products. Samples originating from qc request to address complaints. Assist with the development of new test methods.

Assistance To Various Departments

  • Utilising analytical, instrumental, and physical testing methodology to assist the operations, QHSE, procurement and sales teams to conduct customer complaints and root cause investigations (RCI) and to recommend corrective actions.
  • Approvals & testing of Raw Materials
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the register of approved and/or alternate raw materials and suppliers. Additional testing to obtain more properties that can be compared to standard materials. Also, assist purchasing with necessary paperwork required for audit purposes.

Method Development

  • Conduct research and method development of current in-house testing methods with special attention to international practices.
  • Optimization of performance of instruments in terms of faster data acquisition techniques to shorten the turn-around time on analysis of products that requires routine testing of physical properties. Commissioning of instruments and maintenance of instrument performance over time.
  • Contact and arrange for external testing of products (current and new customers) which is beyond our testing capabilities in line with in-house and recognised international standards.

Troubleshooting of devices/instruments

  • Maintain the instruments in a workable condition and trouble-shoot them for any malfunctions which may invalidate previous results and calibration of equipment. Contact and arrange with service providers for any anomalies and related issues with instruments to repair/service accordingly.

  • LiaIse with service providers for ordering of reagents, materials, and instruments (arrange for demos) for laboratory use.
  • Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of the budget costs for both fixed cost and Capex.
  • Back-up Services

Development: When required, assist with new product development, which may require additional testing that are not covered in routine testing.

Analytical: Provide leadership and guidance to subordinates to ensure the smooth functioning of both sections of the laboratory and ensure good housekeeping practices.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications:   

Bachelor’s degree or B Tech in sciences (Analytical, Polymer Chemistry or Chemical Engineering)

Experience:           A minimum of 1 to 2 years in the related industry
